unable to open cdrom drive

Hi, 
 
I have a problem with 'cdparanoia'. when I want to start it, I get an error
like this: 
Unable to open cdrom drive; -v will give more information. 
The following commands failed to run: 
readtrack-1: cdparanoia  returned code 1 
But, if I'm logged in as root, there are no problems! What can I do?
