-e data?

if I do "cdparanoia ... 2> /tmp/out" I don't get any of the progress info in
the file.  if I do "cdparanoia -e ..." I get output that I don't
undestand... I've looked on the net for an explanation of what -e produces
but find nothing... I'm writing a wrapper and having useful status
information would be cool... can anyone tell me what -e generates and how i
can make it useful?
