hi community. well, about linux distros. i have alt linux [www.altlinux.com] and i love it, here's why: 0. it is easy in use (of course, a bit more complicated than mac, but... :) ) 1. it has lots of stuff we need (i.e. alsa, jack, ardour, sequencers, synthesizers, wave editors, patched low latency kernels, etc, and, btw, csound) as precompiled rpm's. 2. i can always keep my system up-to-date and get much more software from online package repository [called sisyphus]. at last but not least, alt linux users are happy whether they love kde/gnome or hate them (as i do). as i know, alt linux is not well known in western world, but it also has at least all basic western locales inside, so anyone who is interested can try it, just download iso(s) and other software that you like from repository. -- sex, drugs, csound!
