For some time I've longed for the ability to use csound in conjunction 
with my DAW (Digital Performer).  I do have the ability to send midi 
data out to MacCsound, but there was no good way of getting audio back 
in.  And there certainly was no easy way to use Csound-based plugins.

Well, this has changed, albeit in beta form.

This is a port of the Linux Jack server to OSX, and basically allows 
any CoreAudio app to be wired together.  "Wait, this has been done 
before with programs like detour, etc."  I never personally used those 
programs, but heard that they caused some chaos with "real" audio apps. 
  This one is designed to play nice CoreAudio.  It plays so nice, in 
fact, that it includes AudioUnit and VST plugins that you can drop into 
your DAW, and send that data into the Jack chain.  This means that it 
is now possible to create plugins in csound, and use them in your DAW.  
It also means that you can record csound synths in your DAW like any 
other AU/VST.

It's a bit of a pain to set things up, but I feel like I'll get the 
hang of it soon enough.  I haven't tested with more than stereo in/out 
either, but as long as MacCsound allows it, it should prove to be very 
flexible.
