Hello Richard,
Unless you have a very specific need for WMA9 Lossless, I’d recommend ripping to FLAC, which has much wider support than WMA9 lossless. FLAC is royalty-free and is an open format with much wider support.
By contrast, WMA9 is proprietary and has never been publicly documented by Microsoft -- WMA9 Lossless decoders are based on reverse engineering.
