That makes the artwork portable - it follows the audio file no matter where it goes. The small cost in disc space is worth it to me. I try to keep the art at 600 pixels square and less than 150 KB or so. I've never had any version of Windows Media Player object to embedded artwork, though I admit that I avoid using that program.
