Besides, the changes that have been announced for Yahoo Groups seem to
affect only the storing/sharing of files through the group itself. Messages
can still be posted, can still be distributed to group members, and can
still be read via e-mail.

I don't see a significant change in that, at least as far as the way that
this particular group has operated.

And, in case it matters, groups.io seems to be swamped right now, and have
instituted a monetary charge over $200 for their "automated" conversion. I
can't see that money coming forward for user-support of a freely available
program.
