Mark,
Thanks for, yet again, being a voice of reason and a fount of knowledge.
While I recognize that the immediate changes do not affect our ability to use Yahoo Groups as a simple list server, I have not looked into what functionality might be lost or limited with regards to message digests and reading messages online via a web interface. As you probably know, many of our members don’t receive any emails while others subscribe to message digest emails.
Having seen this kind of wind-down of services before from Yahoo, Google, and others, I remain skeptical about the long-term viability of the Yahoo Groups service; I suspect that it will be shut down in the not-too-distant future.
Ignoring any issues of costs or funding, I simply don’t have explicit permission from all of the members of this group to provide their email addresses to groups.io <http://groups.io/> or any other third party. In light of that, it would be unethical of me to share other people’s addresses. So I will not be doing it.
