I  use  it  since  many years and it works. Today I was able to dl all
thhe recent messages to this group.

If it doesn't work for you the reason may be found in wrong settings.
Of course I can't exclude other problems.

My  intention  was  to  show  a  way how to avoid the loss of the
archived  posts.  I  guess, once there is a backup in a common database
format  some  more  clever  folks  than me will be able to transfer the
messages -separate or complete - to a new home.
