RE: EOL

It’s been a while since I have logged onto Yahoogroups as a moderator.  As I remember I don’t think there is a quick method to clean up soft or hard bounces.  Maybe you’ll have to bite the bullet and try to clean up one page screen view per day or when you can squeeze in some time.
 
Also I was reading on Groups.io and their cutoff for transfers of old yahoo groups is December 1st.  More info here:

Good suggestion.  I had just been looking at just that prior to leaving the house a little after 2PM (2.75 hours ago).  There is a massive list of “members” whose email addresses have bounced messages — many for years.  Some have been bouncing since the early days of Napster. 
 
I had naively thought that Yahoo! would be smart enough to auto-delete members after some number of months or years of bouncing emails, or that they would have given me the ability to do so, but I can’t see any controls for doing that.  I don’t even see a way to sort the list by how long the messages have been bouncing.  Nor can I find a way to select all of the addresses on the bouncing list — just go through checking a thousand boxes by hand and then remove all that are checked (not likely — I’m way too lazy)



Perhaps someone in the group with more active experience managing Yahoo! groups can clue me in if I’ve missed something.

Currently the Seeburg jukebox list is moving to groups.io <http://groups.io/> .  The owner of the group is awaiting for the images, files and message archive to be in place on the new groups.io <http://groups.io/>  list before admitting members to join.  This is to keep the message archive in numerical order and not “mix” it in with new posts.
 
Currently the wait queue was 400+ for other list waiting for this to take place.
 
I’m not suggesting in any way that Fred Maxwell act on his own,  not that he can do it alone, that is growing short, procrastination is the enemy.
 
There are also website archive options, which was mentioned elsewhere.  I don’t have the link handy at the moment.
 
If possible it would be nice to hear from the list owner as to his thoughts on this.

*	About 12% of members receive the messages as a “Daily Digest.”
*	About 12% get only “Special Notices.”  This is where we might announce a new mailing list should one be created.

I remain skeptical about the long-term viability of Yahoo as a host for the EAC group.  I believe that this is the first step in Yahoo’s shutdown of their “Groups" service.  The stripping of feature is probably intended to drive groups to seek other service providers.  When Yahoo is satisfied that enough groups have left, I expect that they will announce a date for the complete shutdown of the Groups feature.

This is really nothing more than a email list.  We don't store files as part of the yahoo group.
When I first read Yahoo's email, I was concerned for all the groups I'm part of but really for 
most of them nothing is changing.
