Re: old burned cd file in wav

That mediamonkey forum page is from 2008, and even there they say that you
have to configure EAC "incorrectly" to get ID3 tags in FLAC files.

The last few copies/versions of EAC that I've installed have been
configured to create FLAC files by using the wizard that EAC runs on first
setup. I let it do whatever it does by default, and as a result my copy of
EAC does NOT, and has not for at least the last ten years, added ID3 tags
"by default". It simply runs the FLAC.exe encoder, passes it the
appropriate information, and lets it create FLAC tags. I've checked, using
mp3tag: there are only FLAC tags in my FLAC files. So my comment about not
having ID3 tags "by default", in response to Fred's reference to an old
mediamonkey forum posting, was that *I* didn't do anything that would force
it to do the wrong thing -- a stupid thing, IMHO -- and as a result EAC
does only the right thing.

Perhaps checking the "Add ID3 tags" box would force it to add ID3 tags. I
don't know. That box should be checked only if you're using an MP3 encoder,
not a FLAC encoder, and if you let EAC configure itself using its wizard,
it does the right thing either way -- "by default".

Andre is a smart person. Use his program(s) the way he wrote them and they
usually work the way they should. -- m.
