I havn't used the arp for some time, instead try using the touch tracks object. Simply 
programme your arppegitor pattern into a region,drag the region to the touch tracks 
object, then you can trigger the region using touch tracks. It'll quantise launch to 16ths 
etc. Cool for on-the-fly drum programming as well.
