I don't understand the negative reactions about the TLM103. I think
it's a wonderful sounding mic. I've worked with lots of very expensive
Neumann and AKG mics, so it's not that I haven't heard anything yet.
Also there is a nice interview with Al Schmitt (not exactly an amateur)
who's very enthousiastic about the TLM103 and uses it among his other
top-model mics. So, I guess it's a matter of taste. Anyway, I've
searched the great Gearslutz-forum and came up with the TAB Funkenwerk
V78 (although no DI), the Sebatron VMP-1000, the Demeter HXM-1 and the
Speck MicPro 5.0. It's hard to decide.
