In your environment do you have an input channestrip that is
assigned to ESB?  You'll find this in the flipmenu that has
the actual physical inputs (for you 96i/o or 192i/o or whatever
interface you own).  And is this channelstrip then routed to a
relevant physical audio output?

I think you can still make an AUX channelstrip an set its input 
slot to ESB also.
