questions about installing Logic 8

Hello,

I finally ordered the Logic Studio upgrade.   Can I install the  
upgrade and keep my Logic 7 intact?   What do I need to do to make  
sure Logic 7 continues to work?   Do I need to use Logic 7 for any  
old songs that need driver switching (like copying coreaudio setup to  
DTDM).   I use the audio configuration window for this now, do I  
understand correctly that this window is missing in 8?   Thanks for  
any help.
