Deleting DAE tracks takes forever

When I delete unused redundant DAE tracks (vocal comps) after using  
the pack folder command (leaving lots of empty tracks that are the  
same), it takes a full 3 seconds to delete each unused DAE track -  
any idea why this might be?

G5 Dual 2.3, Tiger, Logic 8, PT 7.3, Rockstor drives,
