Don't forget that 1.6ms is at 96Khz. Unless you work up there (most  
heavy virtual instrument users don't) the round trip latency will be  
around double that number. Also check out the RME interfaces. While I  
don't think there will be any sonic benefit over the Apogee's RME's  
"Totalmix" software capabilities/ features are much more mature and  
mostly receive bigger user credit than the Apogee's current state.

I'm also about to upgrade to a 8 core mac but was thinking of waiting  
for the next speed bump release which I was expecting in the next  
month or so. What were you thinking on this score Lee?
