Re: CONVERTING FROM COREAUDIO TO DTDM

Going from native to DTDM works the same as the other way round.  In audio preferences turn off DAE and Core and turn on DTDM.  At this point I always have to quit and restart Logic to avoid a crash.  Now open your sessions one at a time and you'll be prompted to convert Core to DTDM.  Just open all your sessions and save them. Won't take too long.  Might want to "save as.." for safety though.  Then enable TDM and quit and relaunch Logic once more.  Your TDM tracks should be untouched and your Core objects should be converted to DTDM.  Now if "automatically manage mixer objects" (or whatever it's called) is on then when you open a session your ESB inputs  into the TDM mixer should automatically appear, but you may have to do some manual twiddling. For what it's worth I've been running Logic 7 & 8 in DAE/DTDM mode for a few years on a
an old dual 2.5 PPC with an HD3/expansion chassis and 3 192 I/O's for keys and mic inputs.  It's pretty stable for me, but I've fallen into only tracking on DAE tracks then dragging them into the DTDM mixer for final mixing.  I only use one ESB pair strictly for monitoring and so get to do my bouncing offline.  This works for me as I have a lot of bounces to do and a fairly high volume of material to deal with.  I do have to watch headroom carefully but it sounds pretty decent.

I know, you're wondering "why bother with TDM" but I do run PT quite a bit when collaborating with the other rooms in our business.

I'm hoping to upgrade my computer this year but it also means buying a new chassis so I'm just putting it off as long as I can.  Who knows?  Maybe Digi will be announcing a new platform soon.
