I found that building an autoload/template in Logic 8 was definitely the way to go for me. I went ahead and took the time to get all my external midi gear's patch names set up so that it's all there for me when I start a composition. My Logic 7 template was really flakey in version 8 but that pretty much all cleared up with the new one. I kept it fairly light on the TDM side with 8 audio tracks, 4 Virus Indigo's and 32 input objects. No FX as I'm not mixing in DAE. (I drag my TDM tracks to the native side and bounce offline through a single ESB pair) On the native side I have 4 instruments with plugins inserted that I use pretty much in every session. Then a reverb and delay aux and that's it. Everything else gets built as I go. I also hide everything I'm not using in the arrange w
indow. Work flow is something I'm always twiddling with. The 2 object stereo TDM tracks still drive me nuts though. That brings me to....

There's still a LOT wrong with Logic. Audio Suite is pretty much useless. Most plugs don't show up in the list. No TDM delay comp. No support for stereo plugs or track objects. Memory leaks and weirdness that lead to corrupt sessions (although that hasn't happened to me in a while) And why can't you merge audio regions on a DTDM track? Makes no sense at all. Also if you merge stereo TDM regions they become mono! And no support for "midname" files. That would so rock! Don't understand why it's not there.
Overall though, the magic freeze button and a long familiarity with it's quirks mean it's still my weapon of choice over working directly in PT. Offline bounce is cutting my work day in half some days.

I'm running a dual 2.5 PPC 4GB, HD3 in a chassis with 3 192's. OS 10.5.6, PT 7.4 and Logic 8.2. Pretty large list of plugins.
