I was at a PT 8 demo a while back and feeling it was missing some important features I use a lot, namely writing to picture and having to do with tempo maps. You could probably throw key command templated midi info modifications (velocity up/down +/-5, volume up/ down etc) into the missing features list. The response to my inquiry about those features being missing or unexecutable within protools. Apparently according to the PT rep, they are being very slow to introduce these because they are not popular with the postproduction community and in the case of the tempo map, interfered with the way protools resolves to smpte. so way I took away from that is that protools systems for making music are just an afterthought for digi, and dubbing stages are what they see as their core client base. I was completely suprised but yes maybe they do buy enough high end systems tho overshadow all the digi 003 and mbox sales. If thats truly the case they are probably not going out of business any time soon.
