Interface problems

I've got a Lexicon Omega interface that used to work great, but now emits really loud white noise when I put it into record mode.  I had an M-Audio Fast Track Pro before that which used to work great until it started emitting loud intermittent noises in both record and listening modes.  Before that I had an M-Audio Fire Wire interface which just stopped working at all after awhile.  Does anyone make an interface under $500 that is more reliable than this?  I'm really afraid to purchase anything for more for fear that the same thing will happen.
