I've used Windows for years for full-fledged music production and it's been just as good as a Mac. I think I may have gotten SD to work on the initial release of OSX, but I think it primarily will work best in OS9. It's possible the later beta version will work in OSX, but I never tried it. I am currently using SD on 64-bit Win7 with no problems, just try to use the 3.0.4 or 3.0.5 versions and use the latest synth adaptations you can find. The only problems I ever have are not with SD, but with older Roland products not having the latest ROMs to support full sysex editing, which is another headache in itself. Good luck! I think 2.1 will only run on OS9 and below, I have it running on 68k and PPC macs (OS7-9). I have not yet tried SD3 on my G4 Tiger. > > When I loaded SD on my Macs, it didn't read my existing synth files, a guy in here said I needed to change the file types so the Mac can read them. I used "File Typer" and set my files to "look" like proper SD ones, a simple thing that worked for me. > > But maybe I don't understand your issue. > > --- In [email protected], zentrails@ wrote: > > > > HI all > > Can someone who has used SD on both Win and Mac computers please tell me if I should try SD on my > > recently acquired PowerPC G4 laptop with older OSX?
