This could be handled with a simple toggle to bypass the compressors?

And if you already had a PC that you wanted to use for live sound would
you not want to try out a free open source Linux Audio solution before
spending more money on a hardware solution?

In addition would you not be interested in a hardware solution running
jamin ootb that could be built by anyone with the funds/motivation to do
so?

I don't understand why you would request a fork. Jamin hasn't changed for
several years so making some additions is hardly a big deal. If you wanted
to continue using the older interface there could even be a "classic"
interface for people with that specific need.

Multiple interfaces for multiple uses. Jamin as a mastering tool for live
and post prod. Makes sense to me to have it all in one place. A flexible
and highly customisable solution for audio quality. The sound engineers
best friend on or off stage...

Also I'm not sure about this supposed 1024 period limit. I don't recall
that being baked in. Has anyone tested with a jack period size lower than
1024?

i.e.

jackd - a alsa -p 512
jackd - a alsa -p 256
jackd - a alsa -p 128
jackd - a alsa -p 64
jackd - a alsa -p 32
jackd - a alsa -p 16
jackd - a alsa -p 8

etc...
