Initial Comment:
I am trying to downsample a large number of 320K CBR 
files to 128K (or VBR 4 or any other similar settings), 
using CLI scripts. The following is seen when running a 
single song conversion test:

It is the second line that is a bother. I would like to use 
the ID3 tags for music reference, sorting, and even on 
my portable player. The song does correctly 
downsample from 320K CBR to 128K CBR and plays fine - 
it just loses all of the tag info.

This was seen on RH9 using the v3.96 RPM.

I assume by the stdout note that you know of the issue 
and have not yet addressed it. This would be very cool 
to get to work.

v3.100 copies an ID3v2 tag from old mp3 to new mp3, if
a) it's at the beginning of the file
b) user doesn't add any tags himself

ID3v1 tags are still lost.

Agreed, it would be a very nice feature. Maybe the old id3
tag could be stored in memory then (r)encode the mp3 and
finally attach the id3 tag to the new file.
