I have generate the most recent configure script in lame with v2.69.

I have generated the configure script on FreeBSD, it package system  
contains some patches for autoconf, but none of them are related to  
the areas you report on. It can off course be, that Ubuntu also  
contains some patces to autoconf, maybe even n the area you have listed.

The diff doesn't look like some to distrust (for lame).

Any patch you may want to submit doesn't need to include a diff for  
configure, we will re-generate it anyway in case we make changes to  
configure.in.
