Well, technically, there is a release of mpg123 each night with the
automatic snapshots on https://mpg123.org/snapshot .

In the end that's what probably is going to happen, but I'd hate to
have to make changes to publically released API. I can put
work-in-progress disclaimers in the header, but I guess we all know how
this ends.

Well, I did prepare the patch for Lame and at least one other person
tested that last year, too. So I hope I can nag folks into including
the patch once mpg123 1.26.0 is out. In case anyone wants to test and
comment on things: The build script at

still works (tested with Lame svn trunk right now). I do wonder about the
additions I did to support mp3x. Those are a tad invasive (I should
remember to disable that code for a minimal build). Is there anyone
willing to update mp3x to be of use in a world where gtk1 has long
been dead and buried?
