Its easy to make jokes about other people and their work, and as we all 
know very well you are an unrivalled master in this kind of bussiness, 
you proved that many times already.

Things didnt turn out the way they were planned, thats the only reason 
why the MPC encoder isnt open source already. Decoder is and always was, 
same for the specs. Frank's main reason to not make the SV7 encoder 
sources open yet was to protect the planned SV8 version. He feared that 
everybody would concentrate on the old, working SV7 and nobody would 
care about SV8 and contribute to it at all. Releasing the SV8 encoder 
sources, in his plans, would draw a lot of attention on the new encoder, 
and motivate app developers to support it quicker.

As we all know there is no working version of SV8 yet, and i say it 
again, this is the *ONLY* reason the encoder sources havent been 
released officially yet ( there is only a kind of prerelease on Frank's 
known homepage, and it will still produce kind of SV7 files ).

However, i talked to the other team members already and we more or less 
agreed that we will try to convince Frank to make the working SV7 
encoder open if we cant establish significant progress on the SV8 
encoder until middle of the year the latest. Its maybe a matter of 
honesty towards ourselves to finally declare SV8 dead, if we dont meet 
this date, at least for a first alpha.

I am not in the position to promise that, but expect MPC to be a fully 
open sourced audio compression format until middle of the year the latest.
