Traveling through directories and recognizing the contents from the name.

Artist/Album/[Track Number] Title.extension

is one possible form. Other are

Artist/Album (Year)/[Track Number] Title.extension
Artist/Album -- [Track Number] Title.extension
Artist/Album (Year) -- [Track Number] Title.extension
??????/Album (Year) -- [Track Number] Artist -- Title.extension
??????/Album -- [Track Number] Artist -- Title.extension

A physical file you can find on different Paths depending on the
search criteria.

/Audio/Artist/ Artist / Album ...
/Audio/Year/ Year / Artist ....
/Audio/Album / Album (Year) / Artist /

Misuse of file system as data base with different access keys.

I don't know iTunes. I have never seen hardware for it. Last Mac I saw
was in 1996 and it had 8 MBytes of RAM. Macs here are extremely rare.
