Last week I was in A’dam and therefore took the opportunity to meet with a couple of companies there. First I met with the folks from Streamwatchr ( http://streamwatchr.com/ ) who listen to all Twitter tweets and mine it for music related tweets. The tweets then get matched to MB to find related content. They are working to build a company with some of the things that they’ve already built and we had a conversation around how we could work together. Already they have offered us popularity data based on their twitter work — lots of people find popularity data useful. Is this something we should pursue?

The second company was Videodock, who along with a number of other companies (and MTG) is working on a platform to involve more people in classical music and to bring a richer experience to classical concert attendees. They were thinking of doing their own classical schema because they really wanted full control over the data that goes in an out, but I convinced them to use MB instead and to save themselves a lot of work.

I also had a lot of fun working with Gentlecat who is kicking ass on CritiqueBrainz. Gentlecat managed to import almost 9k reviews from the BBC and is cranking out new features and fixing bugs at an amazing pace. If you haven’t seen it yet, check our the CritiqueBrainz in progress:

I also answered the usual emails, paying people, skype conversations, etc. and I started a little side project that will hopefully make for an interesting SF Music Hack Day in a couple of weeks. :)
