Completely disagree with this reasoning:
1) What is the relation with a rips? We store in MB a CDs as a set of
recordings with duration and title only, and not as a rips. MB is not a
torrent tracker, please do not mismatch them. Generally we add a CD by means
of Picard, when the CD is putted in drive. No rip here, a TOC only. And even
someone add a CD by means of files grabbed from a CD, the tracks' durations
from same release still same, independently of grabbing software and its
settings. (What encoder you mean?)
2) About covers. The presence or absence of covers has never an influence
upon the identification of a CD release.
3) I'm truly amazing to read your words "Everyone [...] names the files
according to his own file naming scheme". Again, it's not a torrent tracker
here. IMO, the recordings of each release should be named exactly as on
release according to http://musicbrainz.org/doc/Style/Titles, and not
according to someone's "naming scheme".
