Last night I did the following to try and resolve this:

Uninstalled PWS, PHP, and MySQL.
Reinstalled all three.
Tested installer of old version, that worked fine.
Tested 1.0b17 installer, it hung again.

I noticed that right after the submit I get a dos box popping up really
briefly, indicating that some executable is trying to run. Have there been
any changes in the 1.0b17 installer that cause it to shell out? I've had a
browse through CVS but can't see anything.

One other note: this bug doens't actually hang my web server, it just leaves
an orphan php process hanging round which chews through cpu cycles.

Cheers

Subject: [Netjuke-users] Installer hangs on version 1.0b17

Hi all. I've got a problem I'm hoping somebody can give me a few pointers
with. I've been running version 1.0b16 and loving it. However when I try to
run the installer for 1.0b17 my browser never returns from the form
submission on the installer. This happens both using the upgrade and the
clean install option. Any other requests sent to the web server following
this also hang, reboot is the only way I have found so far to recover.
However after reboot my old installation works fine.

My system details are:

PWS on Win 98
PHP 4.3
MySQL 3.23.55

I tried reinstallng MySQL last night but this did not resolve the problem.
I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling PSW and PHP also in the hope
that this will cause something to give. In the meantime, has anybody
encountered this? Any pointers on logs that I could look in?

Cheers

JC
