local playback...

hey all, a while back I said I'd post a list of "features" I'd like to see in
local playback, I've been really busy with school so I haven't been able to
post it. Now I have not installed a newer copy of netjuke to see if any of
this is implemented, so if it has, just say so, and if it hasn't, put it on a
list of features requested. I'm basing this list off how I would like to use
Netjuke for local playback. So I'm writing it that way, so its a little
me-centric, but I'm just using this format to make it easier to tell what
features I'd like, obviously doing more than this is a great thing. I just
wish I had the ability or even found programming enjoyable, but I can't/don't
so I leave it up to the people that can/do...

Playlist selection for netjuke should have two modes, random and selected. In
random mode, we should be able to select one or more or all "Genres" from
which the list can be created(that way you can have random "Rock" or random
"Jazz" or random "Classical" music or a combination of "Rock", "Indie",
"Classic Rock", etc chosen from at the same time. Of course this works best
when using the id3v2.x list of genres since it lets you seperate music into
more distinct groups.
The other mode, selected mode would be a playlist of songs selected by the
user. Obviously the ability to add whole albums, individual tracks, all
albums/tracks by a particular artist, etc. This playlist would be played
through then it would kick back to random mode(either a default or the last
selected genre list, or the option to be able to choose which method of going
back to random).
There should also be a page(not a pop up window, pop up windows make it
difficult to output the screen to a tv and have a single browsing window open
for netjuke control) that lists the current selected playlist(shown as empty
if so) and the current random playlist(showing which genres are being chosen
from and what songs are in the random playlist) with the ability to delete a
track from the lists before they get played, etc. This page should also
refresh every so often(10 or 30seconds or?) so that it is kept current)
Now, the way I'd like to see this all layed out is under a "Jukebox" section
with a single page showing the two current plalists side by side at the
bottom of the page and the Jukebox options above it. So a scroll box to
select the genres for random playback, plus the options to add songs to the
selected list and the ability to put a created playlist into the selected
list.
This way I can create playlists for jukebox play and save them, or just create
them and not save them, or have random songs selected from certain genres,
all from a single page that that updates so I know whats being played.

Ok, now I'll go and install the new version of Netjuke since i had to format
our apartment firewall....

thanks!
