This is truly a sad moment, I hope netjuke brings about a new jinzora
and very quick like at that. I just loaded it again for a 2nd time to
give it another try when I got this word and I am running into so many
bugs it is unreal. Things just flat out not working or partially
working, and then I post to the forum and usual most of my post go
unanswered. It takes 2 minutes for me to run a entire scan with netjuke
of all my music when I go through cleaning up my music/id3tags, it takes
50 minutes with jinzora2 and not only that both apps are running on the
same server and the jinz update max's out my client cpu at 100% while
updating for some reason yes I am talking about the machine I am using
the web browser on not my server. Also there is no way with Jinz to just
browse your folder and run a update of one folder every time you add or
delete an album you have to rescan your entire collection and once again
that takes me 50 minutes on my machines and a gigabit network. When I do
rescan with Jinz it does not take away the old references it just adds
to, so you end up with duplicates on your site. It also worries me that
I have seen the words "you get what you pay for" used in their forums a
lot, I am one of the ones that is more than willing to pay for netjuke 2
when it was released.

Server is FreeBSD running on a p4 2.4 1gig of mem
Client machine Athlon 2800 1gigDDR

I am not sure how this app will improve netjuke but I hoping netjuke
will improve Jinzora quick like, ok enough complaining and not really
complaining just telling my experience so far.

I understand the time issue and appreciate you doing what you can to
keep the project alive.

Yes, this is real but it does not mean an end to Netjuke. Jinzora 2.0
has an established user interface code base and two very dedicated
developers carrying the project forward. We have a good bit of code in
Netjuke 2 line, but have never managed to cultivate a rich user
interface experience because of lack of skillset and time on my part
(I'm the Netjuke lead)...

So what we have done going forward is to merge our projects into a new
combined effort. This brings us twice the developers and essentially
twice the codebase to work with. I find Jinzora overly complicated and
not ideal, but I also find Netjuke 1.x very limiting and Netjuke 2.x
very immature. I hope to bring a more focused and user oriented
experience to Jinzora and raise the quality of their product while doing
the same for Netjuke. Jinzora 3.0 will probably be released as 'Netjuke
Technologies Jinzora' or some other combination there of. We are working
on compatibility layers in the near term to give Netjuke users a
consistent experience on an active codebase to hold out for the next
major release.

I felt that merging with Jinzora was the best possible move I could make
to preserve Netjuke as a project and keep moving forward. My day job
work is pretty time consuming (software start-up), so I was simply
drowning in my vision for Netjuke 2. Jinzora complements those weak
spots, so I figure that in 6 months we can have the solution I've been
trying to build instead of another year+ at the current pace we were
moving as a separate project.

The merger is proceeding like this: Ross Carlson (Jinzora Lead) and I
have been discussing project structure and architecture and have elected
to merge our codebases where appropriate to get the maximum value in a
unified project. Much of the architectural robustness, developer tools,
and miscellaneous feature code is moving into jinzora's source tree.
We're implementing trac for bug tracking and source control and moving
to subversion.

All Netjuke code is available for forking and will continue to be
available in the future. Anybody who doesn't like my plan is invited to
fork the code base and proceed in whatever way they feel is appropriate.
