i guess i can see the possibility of discontinuing production (release) 
of US models. but there is no way Sony would pull MD production from 
Japan. you know, apple has a statistic, 42% market share of Japanese 
MP3 players. what they don't mention is that Japanese people could give 
a damn about MP3 players. everyone i know here listens to music on MD . 
it's just a way of life. i forget exactly now, the figure, i guess i 
could google, but anyway... approx. (according to my memory) only 10% 
of japan's electronic consumer goods profit are export.
