There's more than four (counting all OS); BeNetMD, Xmd, opennmd (or whatever 
the libnetmd one is called), FreeMD and a couple of XWindows ones which I 
don't know the name of (gmd or something, I imagine?)

I think the library count stands at three - possibly four.

Variety is good for the end user.
