spyware openmg jukebox

Hi,

today something weired hapened to me.  I had trouble recording songs, so I
frobbed the registry settings and reinstalled the openmg jukebox software.
After that, openmg jukebox refused to import songs (it would convert them
and then error out), saying that the configuration settings were changed,
and that to correct this error I had to run the configuration setting
reconstructor (it was a different name, which I forgot, but something
similar).  This beast was a wizard that did an internet connection to
"verify" something (possibly that I wasn't trying to crack anything, or so). 
After that, it looked again at the converted file and imported it.

Now, I didn't have a tcp/ip logger installed at that time, so I didn't get
to see what site it connected and which information was exchanged.  Maybe
someone else can reproduce this, and get more information.  Exploring this
could result into a nice document that could be used for a PR campaign
against this software.
