Here's what I've discovered so far...
My remote is in fact a different model; RM-MC12ELK.
I've tried your titling command
00 18 07 02 20 18 01 00 01 30 00 0a 00 50 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 82 73 82 8f
and it produces the expected result: GetCharacterCode begins to return 
03 on a disc that previously returned FF, the extended disc title 
contains "To" and the remote displays "To" for the disc title, while the 
main unit displays "untitled".

I'll check the eeprom next, I assume the instructions for this are in 
the service manual?
As for probing for commands that begin "02 18 ..." I'm willing to try 
it... is this for commands that mirror the known "00 18 ..." commands?
