Did you watch out for error messages (in /var/log/messages)
or elsewhere ?

Is ist exactly 12 hours ? Then i would suspect 
a coding error.

If not, if would suspect a memory leak. You could monitor
memory usage with the top command (using the batch option
as a cron job every hour.
