The source code is not available for review. The implementation details of
codecs and ciphers are proprietary, without chance of peer review.

This alone makes the application untrustable for any purposes where the
required security should be higher than "toy-grade".

Also, as there is no source, there is no chance to add required
functionality that wasn't decided for by the Wise Vendor. Not even
mentioning the dependence of development and maintenance on their
economical health, which is especially in these turbulent times something
that shouldn't be relied upon.

Last, but not least, there is no Linux nor BSD nor Mac version, nor the
possibility to port and compile it on our own. And not even theoretical
chance of a PDA port.

Is it really worth to try to do the same mistake time after time and get
locked into some proprietary solution again?

However, if Skype is so good firewall-wise, it could be worth of try to
take a look to its communication with a packet monitor and take a look
what source and target ports are used, and what approaches it uses for
firewall piercing. Then reimplement it for SF.
