speakfreely is not dead, it is alive and well at sourceforge, and just
going through a transformation.  Even if there were no further
development, the existing code continues working...  Currently there
are only two outstanding feature requests on
http://sourceforge.net/projects/speak-freely/ so even though there
aren't many developers right now, they are basically keeping up with
the updates people are asking for.

It's good that you try using teamspeak, because then it may give you
ideas for features that should be integrated back into speakfreely.
You can either code them yourself, or make suggestions to people who
are willing and interested to do the coding.
