As announced on August 1st, 2003, on January 15th, 2004 at 00:00 Universal
Time, Speak Freely has been discontinued.

     1. The http://www.fourmilab.ch/speakfree/ directory tree has
been redirected to a document announcing the discontinuation,
describing the reasons for it, and providing links to the
archives on SourceForge where those who wish to download
Speak Freely may continue to do so. The archives are current
with the 7.6a releases for Windows and Unix and include both
source code and (for Windows) ready-to-run executable files.
	    Unix: http://sourceforge.net/projects/speak-freely-u/
	    Windows: http://sourceforge.net/projects/speak-freely-w/

     2. The Echo and Look Who's Listening servers which were running
on the www.fourmilab.ch site have been shut down.

     3. The [email protected] mailing list has been
closed. This will be the last posting to the list, and
will appear in the final edition of speak-freely-digest.
The Speak Freely Forum, which mirrors the mailing list,
has also been closed. Within the next week, I will post
a compressed archive of all postings to the speak-freely
list since its inception in 1996 as a download on
SourceForge, linked to the Speak Freely Archive home
pages. Since this file will be downloadable by
anybody (not just list members), I will remove all
E-mail addresses from the archive to prevent their
	being "harvested" by spammers.

     4. When I find the time, I will post documentation of
Speak Freely's native message protocol on the SourceForge
	archive site.

Thanks to all of those who've contributed time, code, and good ideas
to Speak Freely over the years!
