 I can look at  this next week, unless someone beats me to it (hint).

Please commit these.

This sounds like our alsa problems.  I still would like to understand
why our alsa driver seems to lockup even though alsa oss emulation works
just fine (you can seek and skip to your heart's content).
But this is probably not a show stopper, we've had it for ages.  I've
ended up using the emulation layer as it is much more stable.

Shouldn't be an issue if we are using the original browser code.  
mdb/browsermm  are still works in progress.
