Description: The GLib library of C routines
GLib is a library containing many useful C routines for things such
as trees, hashes, lists, and strings. It is a useful general-purpose
C library used by projects such as GTK+, GIMP, and GNOME.
 .
This package contains the shared libraries.

See "Size:" "Depends:"and "Description:". GLib is not in any way X,
GUI or graphics related, apart that it is used in GNOME. For example,
I used it in a reliable multicast protocol implementation (implemented
as a C lib, plus a few basic commandline tools, so fairly low-level
stuff). If you ever programmed C using it, you'll sorely miss it if
you are restricted to POSIX/ANSI C.

[Rant about graphic dependencies snipped]
