FWIW, I have all of my oggs (+mp3s) stored on a not very fast fileserver
with slow (5400RPM) disks to keep temperatures down. This is accessed
over a 100Mbit network however (although I'm looking at WiFi for access
from my living room). I would try to get an estimate of how long its
taking to scan an ogg, but the build changes have decided only to
compile about three files...

In terms of functionality, I very rarely use seeking; never care how
long a song has left to play; and definitely place the responsiveness of
opening the file higher than either of the above. This of course may
have no bearing on the design ;-)

lol... dinner time for me, which definitely isn't an illusion!
