harel, it seems to be wanted at least a certain version of glibc. obviously
you wouldn't be able to do much of anything without glibc so it's more
likely that you have a version of glibc that is less than 2.2.5. check and
see what version you have and reply.

Thanks, but the CS person who created
the dual boot disk is strongly against the idea of
installing some new glibc...since that might
mess up other programs which do work and which are using
the old version.. (before hearing this from him,
I tried anyway, and it FAILED to RPM-install the glibc
I found online anyway..)

So it looks like RPM for this SuSe I have right now
is dead in the water...a shame..

The next two options are, when I have more time
(e.g. summer) with either a new OS (we may
move to mandrake) or else, trying again by
hand to install the source code...if we do the
latter and give the very short error message
(which escapes me at the moment) on this list,
would that help? (Or maybe just moving to a new
distribution of Mandrake will be the best
thing and then to try RPM-installing..)

thanks,

Harel
PS, looks like from message #2 that others
too have had problems with Zinf <-->SuSE..
