Xing basically wrote the books for vbr mp3 encoding. I'm fairly sure
it's a very decent decoder and by far one of the fastest. It's just not
actively maintained and since none of us are DSP programmers it leaves
us with no choice but to outsource the mp3 decoder.

You're always free to port winamp/xmms plugins to zinf. Of course i'm
only talking about decoder/output/input. We dont care about
visualization plugins of any sort. It's not going into the codebase and
it wont be recognized as part of zinf. Zinf is gpl and i'd like to keep
all the plugins we have in it as legal as possible. Any doubts about
the legality of code wont be recognized. I'm not saying the wma code is
not legal but there exists decoders that are still accused of not being
legal and i'd like to stay away from them.

I'd rather not spend my time working on getting xmms/winamp plugins to
function properly under zinf and instead get zinf's plugins working
properly and getting more of them. I was only aware of us being able to
load winamp themes ... not plugins.
