Some platforms are smart enough not to render the graphics when the display window is miniaturized, so it may be worth checking to see if there is a performance increase in simply miniaturizing the window. That said, the bottleneck of most (but clearly not all) simulations is not the graphical display. Most of the graphical rendering is done in the video card hardware, so in general, it's not directly competing against the simulation for CPU time. Turning off shadows, reflections and other special effects will further reduce the time required for rendering. Otherwise, if you still find that running without graphics give a significant speed increase, archiving and dearchiving the simulation using the CLI and graphical versions should do what you need. - jon klein _______________________________________________ breve mailing list [email protected] http://www.spiderland.org/mailman/listinfo/breve
