Does anybody have the mail gateway working with translations?

Hi all:

We have a number of changes to the translation infrastructure to make
things faster.

So I am trying to add tests for the translation routines through
various mechanisms. Currently I am struggling to get the mail gateway
to translate strings.

I have chosen to send an email to the mail gateway without a
subject. That is supposed to return a translated error message.
However I can't seem to get the translaion to work.

Does anybody have the mail gateway running in a locale other than
english and can confirm that the geteway translates things?

Even better would be tips on how to test this.
