Hi Anthony: In message <[email protected]>, Anthony Pankov writes: >You're absolutely right. >There is identical glyph for russian 'S' and english 'C'. I remember a story with a similar issue with the Simple Event Correlator (SEC). The user's rule contained: [A-Z] but was only matching characters from A to S (there is that pesky S again) and Z but not C, Q and characters after T in the alphabet. Other characters were being matched. The trick to figuring this out was the SEC was not running in the C locale, but the Estonian locale. It has Z right after S and is missing a few characters from it's alphabet.. I still always use "LANG=C sort" due to a similar locale/codeset issue early in my career. Have fun adding permissions. -- -- rouilj John Rouillard =========================================================================== My employers don't acknowledge my existence much less my opinions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot
