Disclaimer: I never really looked into Rails or all those "clones", so
may opinion is maybe not that well-funded :)  I read some how-tos,

Rails uses a more or less classic MVC approach, which FluxCMS/Popoon
doesn't. It's also some kind of MVC, just different. I don't know how to
translate it, but maybe

Model: Generators/plugins
View: XSLT/transformers
Controllers: .configxml, sitemap

(with some overlaps here and there)

Where I can see something to be learned from rails is the DBDO approach,
something between AppController and AppModel as a plugin for easy
accessing and editing of DB-Data in an OO way. View is out of question
here anyway IMHO :) We have covered that pretty decently with XSLT.

OTOH, with have the structure2xml and db2xml plugins with the dbforms2
editor for easy and powerful outputting and editing of DB-data, so I'm
not really sure, if we need yet another approach for that. But yes, I'm
sure this could be done with a plugin and maybe additionally an editor
(or just use dbforms2, that's powerfull enough :) )
